So I wanted to make a case for my Kindle. Actually, I want
to make a lot of cases for a lot of Kindles and sell them on my lonely Etsy
page. I Googled “Kindle Cover Tutorial” and was immediately bombarded with
instructions on how to make a stylish case out of fabric, plastic, leather,
recycled gum wrappers … really just about anything. I looked at a few examples
and immediately went to work cutting and piecing together my fabric. Did I read
the directions? Did I measure anything? No and no. The only “directions” I ever try
to follow are recipes, and usually I abandon those too and just figure it out
as I go. I learned how to use my sewing machine and make quilts from watching
YouTube videos. If I see it, I can do it. If I read it, I don’t know what I’m
doing. Not sure why that is.
Anyway, I think I did ok. There are a few things I need to
change, like putting batting between the layers of fabric, or lining the case
with fleece to keep the Kindle warm and safe and protect it from getting too
beat up when it is getting knocked around in someones purse or backpack. I
think it needs to be a little narrower so the Kindle doesn’t flop around too
much inside. So … What do you think? Anybody want one?
