My kids are off from school this whole week. I usually dread
vacation week because the weather always seems to be bad, or someone has the
stomach bug. This week is going to be different. Today is Patriots Day, which
commemorates the Battle of Lexington and Concord at the start of the
Revolutionary War. Patriots Day includes parades, historical reenactments, the
running of the Boston Marathon, and a day off for a lot of people. What it
doesn’t usually include is the beach. It was 91 degrees today in Boston, so we
headed to the beach with two of my hot mama friends and all our kids. All the
kids are finally old enough that the beach is actually fun. We can sit and talk
and occasionally spray them with sunblock or offer them food, but we don’t have
to be within grabbing distance of them all the time in case they decide to go
underwater.
It was strange being at the beach when the trees are just
starting to get their leaves. The beach was full to capacity and they closed
the public parking lot. Luckily for us, one of my hot mama friends is a
personal trainer and one of her clients has a house on the beach. Score! Free
parking and free private beach access. Good to know since by July, it will be
200 degrees out. Happy Spring!
